Most of it is what you would expect: city halls, schools, parks, hospitals, churches. Some is public title on a private business. The City of Dallas owns the American Airlines Center ($361M) and, through a city-created corporation, the Omni Dallas Hotel ($295M). At DFW Airport it holds title to warehouses in Irving and Coppell leased to companies like Amazon, whose equipment and inventory are taxed even though the buildings are not.
Housing on public title, $5.1B and at least 24,500 units, is exempt because a public body holds the title: the Dallas Housing Authority, and housing finance and public facility corporations that partner with private developers, who run the property and set aside some units as affordable. DCAD files most of these complexes as commercial property, not apartments, so they are found here by owner and building type.
DCAD 2026 certified roll, accounts marked totally exempt; mineral rights left out. Values are appraisals for 1 January 2026. DCAD caps a value at $999,999,950, so the largest hospitals are understated. Partial exemptions, such as homesteads and abatements, are not shown. · geopen.io
