Texas Lottery — Where the Million-Dollar Winners Live
Every Texas town that is home to a lottery winner of $1 million or more, 1992-2026: 521 towns, 2,114 winners, $9.91 billion. Circles are sized by the number of winners and shaded by the total won. This is the one lottery question the state's data answers completely — the selling retailer was not recorded until 2012, but the winner's home city appears on every claim back to 1992, including the 794 claims where the winner elected anonymity. Texas withholds a big winner's name on request; it does not withhold their town. Read it as a population map first: Houston has more lottery millionaires than Marfa because Houston has more people.
