Texas Lottery — Every $1 Million Prize and the Store That Sold It
1,313 lottery prizes of $1 million or more, 2012-2026, placed at the retailer that sold the winning ticket. $4.21 billion in total. Points are sized by prize and coloured by game. Source: the Texas Lottery's own winners list, published by the Texas Comptroller (3.07 million claims paid since 1992, $15.3 billion). Prizes of $1M+ are 0.07% of all claims and 69% of all money paid. The map starts in 2012 because the Lottery did not record the selling retailer before then: coverage is zero through 2006 and reaches 100% in 2016, so the 860 million-dollar prizes paid between 1992 and 2011 cannot be placed. A store appearing repeatedly is mostly a store that sells a lot of tickets — this maps where winning tickets were bought, not where luck is. Retailer addresses were geocoded with Azure Maps.
