Texas County Burn Bans (Current)

146 of Texas's 254 counties currently prohibit outdoor burning. Each county carries the date its ban began and how many days it has been in force. A drought map shows a condition; this shows a decision — a county commissioners court has to vote to impose a burn ban, so this is where the weather becomes policy. Read it alongside the US Drought Monitor layer: the counties worth looking at are the ones where the two disagree, dry with no ban or banned without being especially dry, because that gap is a choice rather than a climate. TFS aggregates what counties report to it, so a ban enacted this morning may not appear until the county files it, and a lifted ban can linger. Treat it as current to within a day or two, not to the hour.
